KKEY TV 11 played a terrific role in educating and informing the Latino community with the special one hour telecast of the immigration issue in March 2006 when thousands of people participated in these marches and protests with the  largest civil rights mobilization in the history of Bakersfield and Kern County. A panel was made up of the following people:  Dr. Gonzalo Santos- sociology Professor at California State University Bakersfield and Co-Organizer of the initial April 10, 2006 Immigration March; Jim Lopez- National Chairman of the Republican National Assembly; Dr. Jess G. Nieto - Executive Director of Heritage of America and Co-Organizer with Dr. Santos of the April 10, 2006 Immigration March; Alberto Llamas- political consultant and activist; Francisco Tamayo - senior year student at Arvin High School; and Daniela- a undocumented resident of Kern County.  The panel discussion was hosted by KKEY's Sergio Flores and Melissa Gonzalo.
